Tertiary window positions not following parent window screen location |
Posted by: Snowmantis - 02-27-2021, 03:56 PM - Forum: Prerelease Bug Reports

Scope: Tertiary window pop-ups such as "Request Transport", "New production line", or Change production line
Bug: The tertiary window fails to "follow" or pop up with the the main game UI or on the same screen as the parent window after operating on the secondary screen in a dual monitor scenario (even after game restart). The tertiary window is lost until the dual monitor is reconnected.
Current remedy: Reconnect computer to the second monitor, activate the tertiary window, drag the window over to the primary screen with the other Game UIs.
Steps to reproduce:
- Hardware: Gaming laptop with HDMI connected secondary monitor (in split desktop configuration, not spanned)
- Launch game with a dual monitor connection
- Move game and any windows that popup to secondary monitor including the tertiary windows.
- Disconnect cable from second monitor - game still playable when it moves to main screen (automatically) except the tertiary windows.
- The tertiary windows still attempt to pop up on the secondary monitor and is reproducible by plugging in the second monitor, moving the "Tertiary Window" over to the main screen, disconnect secondary monitor. The "Tertiary Window" is now available on the main screen.
- The issue persists through game save, and relaunch
** It is understood that the design of the game is to allow windows to be placed anywhere desired, however the game can literally become unusable in laptop situations where the laptop becomes mobile and disconnected from secondary monitors.

Possible BUG: System Surveys do not complete in some cases |

---Possible BUG Needs verification---
Scope: System Survey, Alts
Bug: When conducting a solar system survey. If you switch alts while the survey timer is counting down, it scans will never complete.
Current remedy: I've had success doing a save/quit/reload and then spamming the survey command.
Edit, added - If you re-query from the star map and view the survey report from there, that works every time.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Fly into a system
2. Conduct a survey
3. Switch alts right after you start the survey
4. Switch back after a few minutes
Note: This may just be a map refresh issue but I have saved/quit/reloaded and it sill not work. I've had to do it multiple times to get it to work.

BUG: Diplomacy interface not updating |

Scope: Diplomacy Interface
Bug: The interface does not update when using the interface. You have to make your change, save and quit and then reload the game to see your changes take effect.
Current remedy: Save and Quit, then relaunch the game each time you want to make a change in the interface.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Have an empire or create one - Empire 1
2. Create a new empire and use Atlantis start - Empire 2(this is not a requirement but it makes it much easier to reproduce)
3. Get the galactic location of Empire 1
4. Have Empire 2 travel in the Atlantis to Empire 1 and make contact
5. The Governance Torch will glow and animate indicating you have information that require your attention
6. If you see Empire 1 listed in the known empires try to make them an Ally, at this point the interface will not update
6a. If you are not able to see Empire 1 listed in the known empires screen, save and quit and relaunch and check again.
Now that you have done that, Empire 1 should be listed there. This was a direct example of the interface not updating
Any further actions in the interface will not update until you save and quit and relaunch.

Blueprint Exchange
Someone asked if I would make all the blueprints available from the last universe.
Unfortunately I cannot do that. Those blueprints belong to their respective architects. I do not have any implicit or stated right to do anything with them.
Instead I created a public Blueprint Exchange on the web site. Architects who wish to do so can publish their blueprints as they wish.
Published blueprints are public. They immediately become available for anyone to download.
There is no way to rate blueprints in the public exchange.
An update was posted to the game program. When SoH files are saved, the current view content is saved with the file for the thumbnail image. Previously, this seemed to be hit or miss whether the file contained the thumbnail.
For a blueprint to show best in the exchange, it should be loaded with the current version of the designer. Then you should refresh obstructions; finalizing is not needed. The obstructions information is used to calculate the hull volume. Then resave the .SoH file and it is ready to be published in the exchange.

Game steals mouse during loading |

After selecting an avatar and loading into the universe, while the universe loads with the limbo animation, the game yoinks control of the mouse, regardless of what window or monitor it's on, and repeatedly re-steals it making it impossible to move the mouse around until the scene has fully loaded. This is extremely noticeable on long loading saves. It's fine after the scene loads in, where the game properly releases control

2021-02-17 Saved Game Folder, Lost Atlantis, INI File |

Saved Game Folder
The location of the saved game files can now be configured in settings. The default location is 'Hazeron Starship/Saved Games'.
The previous location of the files was 'Hazeron Starship/Temporary/Solo'. That folder also contains cached files.
To continue with your current saved games, you can either redirect the saved games folder to that location or you can move the files to the new location. The files to move are named: A10*, sU.*, and sA.*.
What are these files?
The current game is stored in two files named A1001100 and A1010101. This contains all of the avatars shown when you get to the avatar selection screen.
Check point saves are stored in pairs of files named sA.something and sU.something.
When a check point save is restored, the sA.something file replaces the A1001100 file and the sU.something file replaces the A1010101 file, then the game starts normally.
Lost Atlantis
The Lost Atlantis scenario required a couple of changes. - Atlantis now starts with 100 cryo travellers.
- Atlantis is no longer privately owned by your avatar. I forgot this would make fuel and repairs very expensive.
- Crew species now matches your avatar, as intended.
INI File
There is now a -ini command line option when running the game to force settings to be stored/loaded using a .INI file, rather than the registry on Windows. On Linux the option is redundant because settings are natively stored in -ini format.
I have not tried this because I use Linux. I don't know where the file will be stored on Windows. The name should be 'Hazeron Starship.ini'.
Story Hint Button
Story Dialog window now has a button to request a hint.
Story now replies with a message when the script does not provide a hint. Previously it said nothing, which was a bit confusing.
Missing Villagers
Started a game. Exited. Restarted later and my villagers are mostly gone.
Fixed by a previous bug fix, I think. I have not been able to reproduce it since then.
