Ship: Raptor/Marauder

Beautiful ship Kami! Most impressive! Love the look.

This ship has a little of everything. A comfy longue, visible cryo pods (for fun of course), crew quarters with custom beds, sickbay with again custom beds, fire station station pods, dedicated turret posts, two fighter launch bays, vehicle launch bay on the belly of the ship, and last but not least the bridge has a nice view. 

It only takes an hour or less to build.

The design has enough volume to suite different configurations. Example, most of the armament can be stripped away to make it a nice colonizer.

  Game won't launch on linux

I use debian based system. Previously, I was able to launch SOH, but now I'm unable to start Starship. All needed program packages listed in old download page are installed.

  BUG: Space vehicles not safe landed at airport.

Scope: Fighter Craft, Space Transport, Rocket, Airports, Domes, Hostile Atmospheres 


Bug: Landing any vehicle, per the scope above, are not safe at the airport from hostile environments. However moving them inside of domes is safe.  


Current remedy:  None

Steps to reproduce:
1. Take any of the objects in the scope 
2. Landing object at airport on a planet with a hostile atmosphere
3. Take damage
4. Move object inside of dome, take no damage

Suggested:
 So I think this is a bug. Spacecraft/Spaceships are safe from atmospheric damage while landed at an airport, It "should" extend to other craft unless this is by design.

If it's by design, please let me know and I will delete this thread

  Minor Offline Designer UI Glitch

When opening "Choose Library Texture" with Decals and Signs selected, UI glitches as shown in video. Select another texture, resize, and window snaps back into correct position (not shown in video, discovered after recording). Then, select Decals and Signs again, and it's all good again, with the texture appearing much smaller than it did initially.

  BUG: Save game gone

Scope: Save Games


Bug: Save games are deleted after a failed load of the game


Current remedy:  Use disk shadow copies or use a automated backup script to copy the data someplace else at a given interval

Steps to reproduce:
--I don't think this can be reproduced at will--
1. Load game
2. If Game get's stuck loading (Excessive load time, 5 minutes +) ((In my case I waited 10 minutes))
3. Close the game
4. Re-launch game and...find that all the avatars are missing
5. Verify that  ((Win)) "%userprofile%\Hazeron Starship\Saved Games\A1001100 is now ~1KB or less. 
       

Suggested:
- Implement a auto-save feature (configurable in game menus) 
- Implement a auto rotation archive feature
   - Keep last 3 saves
     - Perhaps rename the save file A1001100.1 .2 .3 and so on. 
     - Should something go wrong, end users can simply delete A1001100 and rename A1001100.X to A1001100 to restore lost data.






Update:

I found that the A1010101 was damaged. I restored an backup save game and it blew it self out again and again. 
I restored both files (A1010101 and A1001100) and this fixed it. 


So if A1010101 is damaged this will happen.

  Upscale parts of the game up 10x or back to 1:1

So for those who don't know, hazeron was/is scaled 1:10.  (first off, If I am wrong about this please slap me now...I was aware of this back in 2012, not sure about today)
Since the game is now solo and not running on the MMO server farm, why not upscale parts of it back.

Things to upscale 10x:
- Solar systems
- Ship acceleration
- Sensors
- Naturally Ringworlds per the solar system part



Reasoning: So since the game is going to be going single player on steam...the space gamers have a unique tastes. You have a wide verity of hits that have scored with the market and it's players. Each game missing parts or pieces of the "perfect space game". We all know Hazeron is special because it has the most comprehensive list of features out of every space game to date. 

Scale is important but so is balance and I understand that. Where do you draw the line at simulator vs casual/arcade right? So that's why I'm tossing this out here. I know this is a cosmetic only but it may make a difference in the market. 


If 1:1 is too much, then I also propose 1:2 % 1:5 scale. 

Thoughts anyone?

  Tertiary window positions not following parent window screen location

Scope: Tertiary window pop-ups such as "Request Transport", "New production line", or Change production line

Bug: The tertiary window fails to "follow" or pop up with the the main game UI or on the same screen as the parent window after operating on the secondary screen in a dual monitor scenario (even after game restart).  The tertiary window is lost until the dual monitor is reconnected.

Current remedy: Reconnect computer to the second monitor, activate the tertiary window, drag the window over to the primary screen with the other Game UIs. 


Steps to reproduce:

  • Hardware: Gaming laptop with HDMI connected secondary monitor (in split desktop configuration, not spanned)
  • Launch game with a dual monitor connection
  • Move game and any windows that popup to secondary monitor including the tertiary windows. 
  • Disconnect cable from second monitor  - game still playable when it moves to main screen (automatically) except the tertiary windows.
  • The tertiary windows still attempt to pop up on the secondary monitor and is reproducible by plugging in the second monitor, moving the "Tertiary Window" over to the main screen, disconnect secondary monitor.  The "Tertiary Window" is now available on the main screen.
  • The issue persists through game save, and relaunch

** It is understood that the design of the game is to allow windows to be placed anywhere desired, however the game can literally become unusable in laptop situations where the laptop becomes mobile and disconnected from secondary monitors.

Ok so this one is kind of cheesy but it's something I constantly do myself.

When arriving at a system either via wormhole (especially via wormhole) or warp, right before completing the order, have the ship point at either the best planet in the system or the star it self. That way, once you enter a system, your helms-person points you at the best view of the system instead of just randomly at the skybox. So you end up with the best view whenever you enter a system  Wink

---Possible BUG Needs verification---

Scope: System Survey, Alts


Bug: When conducting a solar system survey. If you switch alts while the survey timer is counting down, it scans will never complete. 


Current remedy: I've had success doing a save/quit/reload and then spamming the survey command. 
  Edit, addedIf you re-query from the star map and view the survey report from there, that works every time. 

Steps to reproduce:
1. Fly into a system
2. Conduct a survey
3. Switch alts right after you start the survey
4. Switch back after a few minutes
       

Note: This may just be a map refresh issue but I have saved/quit/reloaded and it sill not work. I've had to do it multiple times to get it to work.

Sope: System Map


Bug: When right-clicking on planets/moons, the incorrect system name shows up. 


Current remedy: None.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right-click on a planet/moon in the system map
       

Supporting:
Below is a screenshot that shows a system named "Divers" when right clicking on Planets/Moons/etc, you can see that the wrong system name
is listed in the contextual menu (Listed as QRY'V'EE'a) Looks like the original system name prior to naming the system. 

Note: I did try to rename the system with the same name to see if that would fix it. It did not.
