[QoL] Ship missions exchange |

Quality of life: Spaceship missions exchange
Most of us have five avatars, and some of us are in an empire with players sharing the same goals.
The ship mission system as-is is good, but can be improved a lot in many, many ways.
One simple way to improve it is to add a mission exchange.
Why?
Avatar sharing
- First, some missions are "basic" and are required for all avatars a player have. For example, buying all supplies for a ship, to colonize a new system, to gather a specific resource, etc.
- Theses missions currently have to be manually copied avatars to another, which require a ship filled with missions orders and every others avatar that save it, for each mission.
Player sharing
- Second, Hazeron is an MMO, which means we are playing alone together for many, but not for all.
- A mission exchange can be a good thing as an empire scale to permit to everyone in the empire to set orders to traders, harvesters or patrols. This would involve more the players to work together, at least in a empire level.
Backup
- When we die, we can drop items to the ground (or in the infinity void of space). This could be quite annoying if a CD or USB stick is dropped.
- Of course, a local backup can be done in another CD or USB, but even if it is not complicated, this is not fun at all to check every data storage, load the orders in the ship and save it again to another media.

2022-05-02 Database Lag |

Master server developed a habit of taking a super long time to do its periodic database update.
A maintenance function that is only performed on the master server was taking a geometrically longer amount of time to execute as the number of solar systems increased.
The maintenance function is not critical so it is now only performed when the master server starts up, before anyone can log in.
This will also allow the server to shut down more quickly. It was taking forever because of the final save before the server exits. That was getting really annoying.
One really annoying side effect of this was the huge delay in completion of things that involve the master server, like passing through a wormhole to a system that is hosted on a different server.

2022-05-02 Server Crash |

A server crashed when a ship fired its bay weapon.
A check of the building code revealed that the bug existed there as well.
The bug was thoroughly fixed in each set of code: spacecraft and buildings.
Servers were restarted because of the seriousness of the bug.

AMD Ryzen 5700g support for OpenGL |

My brother seems to be having the same issues I was with my RTX 2070 super in this thread: https://www.hazeron.com/mybb/showthread....94#pid7194
His card is the AMD Ryzen 5700g and specifically, the map part of his star map does not show upon opening it. The Sector list on the right is there, just no map. He has not found a ringworld as yet so I can't say if that part is an issue as well.
My issue with my card was that OpenGL was not enabled by default and enabling it in the control panel solved it. In researching his issue I find that AMD does not support OpenGL either, and while Nvidia provided a fix, AMD does not. I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue with this card and how they solved it?
I found two threads in reddit and another forum, the jist of both of those threads were leaning toward replacing the card with an Nvidia.

Starshps and remote doors.. |

Say, does anyone know if a starship with a land order will automagically open a door that's covering spaceship landing spot, the close it once it lands? Just wondering before I start building something. I'm considering using auto doors that might perform the same function with ships controlled by NPCs.
Actually that is a good question of auto doors work on any entity: vehicle, space/starship, npc... If they did, then the need to activate remote doors could be eliminated for some designs.
https://www.hazeron.com/wiki/index.php/Designer lacks any info on automatic doors... actually I can't find anything in the wiki about automatic doors.

Generation 4 avatars |

Can we PLEASE get at least some basic race attributes added to the Gen 4 avatar generator? Most of this can just be copied over so they are at least as reasonable to play with as Gen III, such as speed, endurance, etc.
I noted that part of the avatar III creation accounts for volume in part of the avatar's total health. I don't see why this couldn't just be copied over from gen III.
I'm filing this under "bug" since it has been at least a year since gen 4 avatars have existed, and they are still slow as snails walking around compared to a configured gen III.

Fundamental landmine issues in this game |

I've been playing this game for awhile, and have noted several issues that will be issues if this game ever became popular:
- Use of textures from real world objects. I've seen a Coleman lantern in this game, and other objects that look scans from real branded products. This opens the game to copyright and trademark lawsuits. I've mentioned this to the game dev before. The lantern model could be redone at least to look like style miner's lamp, which works both for a design for an electric, oil, or lamp, and remove any association with coleman. All the carried item textures need to be revisited, and remove any possible references to real-world brands.
- Casinos. Any reference gambling in games these days is widely attacked. Change this to something like "arcade" or something would be less objectionable. Gambling references in games also increase it's rating level.
- References to a god and churches. Christianity isn't the most popular religion on the planet, besides, who said space faring races would believe in a god, or even gods? In the Star Wars universe, they believe in a force, not a god. Rename this to "spiritual center" and it'll be more universal, and allow for better role playing. Where "god" is referenced, a quick fix would be to replace the word "god" with "stars", especially such as for the ship naming dialogues.
- Sex. ahem. We all know this was a weird design choice That's why Hazeron Starship is dropping it. Spore had this same issue too which you can see in the pre-release footage. They still left the concept of mating in place, but instead of the sex animation, just showed it with a dance, and a puff of smoke, and poof there is an egg.
This is is the product of a very small team, or a single person, directing the game with a limited set of world and cultural experience to draw from -- which is why modern companies make a point to hire from diverse backgrounds. Other than that, it is an amazing technical feat to squeeze so much into a single game.
