A beacon can be used to mark a location. When activated and dropped on the ground the beacon will periodically broadcast its location on the Hail communication channel.
Beacons will last 7 days before being subject to normal item decay.
It is possible to configure a beacon with a custom message to go with the broadcast.
They are used in the Relic tutorial story.
