Online players monitor for Shores of Hazeron.

Introduction
My name is Deantwo and here is another one of my little C# programs.
I was inspired a lot by the contact window used in EVE Online, so I can't take total credit for the idea.

What is it
HazeronWatcher is a simple little program written in C# that monitors the Players Online page.
It shows all online avatars in a list and then allows adding them to watch groups with custom colors and custom online notification sounds.

Requirements

  • .Net Framework 4.7.2
    (Standard on windows)
  • Internet connection
    (access to playerson)

How to use
Adding offline avatars:
  1. Go to the avatar list on https://www.Hazeron.com/
  2. Get the ID of the avatar
  3. Start HazeronWatcher (if you hadn't already)
  4. Click the Add Avatar via ID button above the watchlist
  5. Enter the avatar's ID
  6. Click OK
Change notification sound:
  1. Open HazeronWatcher's AppData folder
    File -> Open AppData Folder
    Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\HazeronWatcher
  2. Move or copy the desired .wav file to the folder

Features
  • List all online avatars
  • List all recently online avatars
  • Create watch groups and add avatars to them
  • Get notifications when selected avatars come online
  • Customizable notification sound
  • Writing of notes for avatars
  • Option to minimizing to tray

Planned
  • Add empires to watch groups
  • Add empire flags
  • Merging of characters/alts into one

  How To Report Bugs

Report bugs and suggest improvements to Shores of Hazeron in this forum.

o Please perform a cursory check to see if your bug/improvement has already been reported. At least skim the first two pages. It's easier for me to get rid of items that I know were fixed than for you to read through pages and pages of bug reports. Recently reported/discussed bugs get the most attention.

o Make a new topic for each bug. Don't put a bunch of different bugs into the same topic. That way I can work them one at a time. One bug per topic enables us to discuss them one at a time.

o The best reports have a brief title that summarizes the problem or improvement succinctly. The body of the report briefly describes what is broken or what feature is wanted. If more details are needed, I will request them. Please don't overwhelm the topic with lots of tiny details; they are rarely useful, often distracting. Save both of us a lot of time; keep it short.

o When a bug/improvement is concluded, the completed topic will be moved to the Closed Bug Reports subforum. It can be revived from there if needed.

o A bug that is closed will not be fixed in your software until the fix is posted. If you really want to know if a particular fix has been posted, take note of the dates on any final comments on the topic to get an idea of when it was closed. Compare that to the updates date on the Shores of Hazeron home page.

o I see every topic posted in this forum regulary. They all get attention. Don't expect an acknowledgement from me to every bug posted. The best acknowledgement is to just fix it without turning it into a conversation.

o Bug reports sent to me via private message are deleted. I've got a lot to do; don't make me cut/paste private messages into this forum.

  2018-05-31 Slow Building Placement, Client Crash on Exit, E-mail Address Changed

Slow Building Placement
Placing new buildings causes a very slow frame rate.

The speed is improved a lot, not perfect.

Crash When Client Exits
The client program sometimes crashes when it exits.

A crash was traced to the mail thread. Client program now waits for the mail thread to finish dying before shutting down.

E-mail Address Changed
Spam started arriving at daveh.soh@softwareengineering.com and seiweb1@softwareengineering.com.

Those email addresses are no longer valid. Check the contact page for the new address.

  2018-05-29 Server Lag, Server IP Address Change, Old Bug Reports

Server Lag
Servers are working too hard doing something.

The function to update patents at each building, which runs every six minutes, was taking a large amount of time due to some inefficient searching. Made some changes to speed up that query. Buildings that were taking a full second to update their patents now take 1 millisecond. Other buildings take only a few microseconds.

This bug was so pervasive, affecting every single building, that a server restart was required.

Server IP Address Change
Shores of Hazeron master server IP address changed.

It is now 74.63.187.69

DNS change should propagate by tomorrow.

A temporary hosts file entry could get you there sooner.

Old Bug Reports
What happened to the bug reports from the old phpBB3 forum?

All Bug Reports and Closed Bug Reports were imported into Silverwill from the old phpBB3 forum database. All posts under each bug report topic were also imported. Name and date of the poster of every topic and post was preserved, in case you have a question about any of them.

no one believes me but i have seen proof. i talked to a woman who suddenly changed into a 6 year old child.
i was on a road and the road transformed.
i was near a installation and suddenly it was something else.

things like that.

  New Forum Feedback/Bugs

I thought a dedicated thread for thos would be mord useful than talking about it everywhere else. Unsure if I should post this in the Bug Report section, but it can always be moved I guess.

First of all I will say that it looks nice, and a lot of the new features are cool. There are however a few things I miss, such as the option to disable smiles in all my posts.

Anyway, a few bugs I would love to see fixed:

  • Links are white and indistinguishable from normal text.
  • E-mails from the forum is just named "Forum", would be nice if it could say "Hazeron Forum".
  • The "unread posts in this forum" indicates seem reversed, they are black/dark when there are unread posts, and they are white when there are no new posts.
  • The video tag didn't seem to work for the video I posted in another thread.

    Don't know if there is anything you can do about that though.

Please also find a simple way to at least redirect "hazeron.com/phpBB3/index.php" to "digiprose.com/phpBB3/index.php" with URL parameters intact, so old links will still work. Having to change all links posted on the wiki and everywhere else across the internet to "digiprose.com" will be impossible.
It doesn't matter what the actual URL is after the redirect, but you might want to write a big red warning at the "digiprose.com" forum saying that it is read-only and a link to the new forum.
Also maybe just redirect "digiprose.com" to "digiprose.com/phpBB3/index.php", since having an old version of the main site is kinda pointless.

Introduction
My name is Deantwo and this is my simple C# program that I made to make Hazeron life easier.
Inspired somewhat by se5a's old HazeronMapper program, if you can call it that when they are nothing alike.
This would never have been possible without AnrDaemon's Hazeron mail file header spreadsheet.

What is it
HazeronAdviser is a simple little program written in C# that scans through all your HMails that are locally saved on your computer.
Once loaded it is able to nicely list all your cities and ships, and then point you to the ones that require your attention.

Requirements

  • .Net Framework 4.0
    (Standard on windows)

How to use
  1. Log into Hazeron with your character
  2. Open the Governance window (F12)
  3. Go to the Places tab
  4. Select all (using CTRL or SHIFT) the cities you govern (because)
  5. Right-click one of them, then click "Recent Report by Mail..."
  6. Open the Mail window (F2)
  7. Click the "Request New Messages" button
  8. Start HazeronAdviser (if you hadn't already)
  9. Click the "Scan HMails" button in HazeronAdviser

Features
  • Scan all Hazeron mails automatically with one click
  • Lists all cities, ships and officers
  • Highlights cities that need attention (low morale, bad jobs/homes ratio, abandonment, etc.)
  • Calculates the time before abandonment decay starts
  • Visually shows population, homes, and jobs
  • Visually shows morale
  • Better overview of all officers and their home (in charge of ships, on planet, etc.)
  • List of buildings in a city (highlighting needed and unnecessary morale buildings)
  • Bank activity information about cities

Planned
  • More attention highlights for cities (no/low food, more?)
  • More attention highlights for ships (no/low fuel, damaged, more?)
  • An overview of resources in city storage
  • Calculate the highest quality spacecraft that the city can manufacture
  • What is keeping a city from making higher quality spacecraft
  • Improvements to the Events tab (highlight the tab when there are new events?)

Want to help
First of all I'd love some feedback and more ideas.
There are some things that I am not sure how to tackle just yet, I'll be making issues tagged with "Help Wanted" if so.
But other than that, it is an open source code, so if any of you know how to write C# you can help out. ^^
