A beacon can be used to mark a location. When activated and dropped on the ground the beacon will periodically broadcast its location on the Hail communication channel.

Beacons will last 7 days before being subject to normal item decay.

It is possible to configure a beacon with a custom message to go with the broadcast.

The format of the location broadcast depends on where the beacon is.

• On a planet:
  • Beacon: <planetary coordinates> on <planet name>
  • Beacon: <message>: <planetary coordinates> on <planet name>
• On a spacecraft in space
  • Beacon: <spacecraft name>
