A beacon can be used to mark a location. When activated and dropped on the ground the beacon will periodically broadcast its location on the Hail communication channel.
Beacons will last 7 days before being subject to normal item decay.
It is possible to configure a beacon with a custom message to go with the broadcast.
Broadcast Format
The format of the location broadcast depends on where the beacon is.
- On a planet:
Beacon: <planetary coordinates> on <planet name>
Beacon: <message>: <planetary coordinates> on <planet name>
- On a spacecraft in space
Beacon: <spacecraft name>
Beacon: <message>: <spacecraft name>
