Wind power plants use a planet's wind to produce electricity. They require atmospheric density and hence do not work on airless moons.
While the effect of actual wind speed on Wind power plants is disputed and has yet to be confirmed, they work best on frigid Worlds. The actual wind speed can be found by using the Locator F7 window.
Capacitor Storage
Wind power plant have the lowest capacitor storage capacity of all the power plants, but they can produce electricity constantly unlike the solar power plant.
Capacity per level: 300

Wind speed increases with distance from the sun. This results in more or less power production from wind generators based on orbit zone.
Orbit Zone | Power Production |
---|---|
Inferno Zone | 1/4 Standard Output |
Inner Zone | 1/2 Standard Output |
Habitable Zone | Standard Output |
Outer Zone | 2x Standard Output |
Frigid Zone | 4x Standard Output |
