Natural gas is a byproduct of geological processes deep in the core of a planet. A well can drill for natural gas on most worlds.
Natural gas is found in conjunction with oil, which means that an oil rock can be a source for harvesting both oil and natural gas. However since all manufacturing processes that uses natural gas can easily be replaced with other resources or processes, it is mostly considered useless unless its quality is marginally better.
A good use of natural gas converting it into hydrogen.
