Soldering irons are required when working with electronic parts, and allow for manual repairs of spacecraft damage. They are required to construct a lot of advanced buildings, most notable is the airport terminal.
Soldering irons can be manufactured at a machine shop using natural gas or at an electronics factory using plastic.
To build in harsh environments, soldering irons are required for all constructions.
