I'll ask again for a tool that would help in so many of these situations: reset crew member to berth. Just a button press on the roster window, teleports the NPC back to his berth location when clicked, as long as he's not more than 1km from the ship's origin (ie. beyond all possible ship extents).

Berth locations are not used for much anyway right now, would be a logical step.
