Dark matter is what destroys some objects after transitioning between solar systems.
Dark Matter Collision
Dark matter destroys any vehicles, NPCs, and stray items that go through a system transition.
It acts as a form of clean-up.
Spacecraft are not affected by dark matter.[1]
