“Sometime after” is a good way of putting it. The animals were a big item; Steam just wasn’t an option with all male-looking creatures. Nobody would have taken this thing seriously. Now there’s a chance.
There are no other big items on my todo list, big enough to be prerequisites to a Steam release anyway. Vehicle designer and item designer would be nice but not mandatory. They can be upgraded later, like everything. Plants? Another biggish item that can be upgraded along the way.
A bunch of time needs to be spent buffing and polishing. The blitz of recent changes caused some collateral damage. With the current state of gen4 animals reaching a nice stable place, we can enter a consolidation phase of bug fixing and finishing loose ends. It is a rewarding phase because stress associated with nagging problems goes away, replaced by calming stability.
Gen4 animals need a lot of work to thoroughly finish, if that is even possible. When they’re done enough, they will begin to appear as wild animals in the environment. That is when the gen3 animals can go away, except their heads, which continue to grace many walls and thrones; I have a large collection of my own.
