Hailing in fleet channel doesn't open ship channels

It's also weird that it's still broken after 2 weeks. Is Haxus aware of the problem at all? Either he doesn't know or it is intentional.

I assume he is too busy working on other bugs to have noticed this bug report.

The hail channel can only send messages at system range, but it can apparently receive messages at universal range, after you have sent out your initial hail on the fleet channel. This supports the idea that the whole thing has arisen unintentionally. At least until Haxus has some time, you can still open private channels from the hail responses, but it is hardly convenient.

This is still an issue.

You hail the Fleet channel at universe range. Fleet ships reply back on the Hail channel even if they aren't in the same system as you. Their reply should be on the Fleet channel, since the Hail channel is only system ranged so it makes no sense for us to receive messages on that channel from beyond that range..

same issue here, and unfortunately I unberthed ship and now all out of system range to do anything, will have use another toon or ship to reach them. Getting spam emails onscreen from 1 damaged ship everytime log in

You can, just, work around the issue by sending an order on the Fleet channel for all ships to report (channel: Fleet, range: Universal).

This will produce chat entries in the Fleet channel which you can right-click to open an effective private channel, on which your chosen ship will receive orders as expected.

It would be convenient to have a fleet window, instead of fleet chat. Where all ships in your chain of command are displayed, and can open channels to them with 1 click from there.

Likewise for company ships.
