Gen IV designer problem

Heya, I can't seem to get the hair modifications to stick. Color, removing them, any changes at all. Everything looks fine after pressing 'ok' but if I try to use that race, or reload it after saving, the hair reverts to whatever the default is.

In the designer there are 'genes' that control what kind of hair can be selecting, including color. These options do not seem to save. I want a hairless species, but that is not possible if changes to hair don't stick.

Ok it might well have been user error. I made sure to apply after each change this time and it seems to have stuck.
