Almost impossible, if you chose Remote Sector starting location.

Detection mechanics have changed, now empires can only find other empires from sectors away if they see their respective warp signature, and usually, most new empires won't have that technology for a while.

And if you intentionally avoid acquiring warp technology, you will be hard to find.
