* Apps that display user generated content must include a method for filtering objectionable material, a mechanism for users to flag offensive content, and the ability to block abusive users from the service (Filter, flag and block? Empire names and flags? Avatar names? All names? Shapes of ship designs? Building designs? Scoff!)

Why isn't Shores of Hazeron available in Apple's App Store?

Several reasons prevent us from offering Shores of Hazeron for download through the App Store.

Shores of Hazeron Launcher

The Shores of Hazeron Launcher cannot be submitted to the App Store because of these restrictions, per Apple.

  • Apps that download code in any way or form will be rejected
  • Apps that install or launch other executable code will be rejected

Well that pretty much sums up the whole reason for Shores of Hazeron Launcher to exist. It downloads updated files for the game and launches the game. Some of the files it updates do contain executable code.

Shores of Hazeron

So why not just submit a good build of the Shores of Hazeron client program and keep it up to date there?

Any one of these reasons prevents us from doing that, per Apple.

  • Apps that crash will be rejected (Never?)
  • Apps that exhibit bugs will be rejected (None?)
  • Apps portraying realistic images of people or animals being killed or maimed, shot, stabbed, tortured or injured will be rejected (Some would giggle at use of the adjective 'realistic', but?)
  • Apps that depict violence or abuse of children will be rejected (Somebody killed me as a kid and made clothing out of my hide; does that count? It was violent but is it abuse if my carcass is put to good use?)
