The third universe was the longest running universe before the fifth universe, spanning a total of 3 years.
This universe saw many changes, most noticeable was the Planet Update that introduced the non-tile worlds which coexisted with with the old tile worlds through the last year of the universe.
Towards the end of the universe more galaxies were added to the universe, thus actually making it a universe rather than just a single galaxy. Many still think of it as having been just one galaxy though, since the supermassive black holes weren't actually implemented until the fourth universe.
