Summary

The French Empire war on Exiles was the first major war of the 4th Universe. This war may be seen as the First Pan Galactic War of the 4th universe, due to its length (nearly a month of intense, daily fighting), the astonishing number of players involved (nearly 20 at its apex, which is a third of the galaxy's player population) and the technological breakthrough that were made during the war (tech levels rising from TL1 to TL27, with numerous ingenious and vicious strategies and tactics). It involved 4 empires (French Empire, Eschaton Circuit, Kelmendej on one side, and Exiles on the other). The war lasted 20 days, from Jan 02 to Jan 22, and resulted in a few thousand fatalities, civilian and military alike. The French War on Exiles started when the French Empire joined the conflict between Eschaton Circuit and the Exiles, and ended with a treaty which saw the French Empire withdraw from the Main Cluster and isolate itself. It could also be theorised that this war led to the formation of the Galactic Core Confederation, which later caused the Core War.

Over 150 ships were destroyed on both sides in the conflict. The war quickly became a stalemate due to lag and issues with troop spawns. The front lines constantly shifted back and forth, with both sides seeing raids on their capital systems. Much of the war consisted of protracted skirmishes within a handful of key systems, the wormhole routes leading to them and the areas where ships were assembled. There were several key battles which contributed to the end of the conflict.

Accusations of exploit use were thrown around and proved by both sides.

Two confirmed exploits were the French Empire demolishing and rebuilding captured bases in their capital during one attack, and the Exiles temporarily utilising military bases without doors. It is also speculated that the Exiles used the inability of the AI to target powerless vessels to attack an otherwise virtually impenetrable defense network.

Cause of the War

The Exiles were attacking all minor empires within their region of space. One of their targets was the Kelmendej empire, an ally of Eschaton circuit (They were not officially allied, because the leader, Eucrasia, was not online very often). When Kelmendej was invaded by the Exiles, Cralpanu asked Eschaton Circuit for aid against the exiles, which they agreed to and went to war. The French Empire, who were Eschaton Circuit allies at the time, agreed to join the conflict a day later to support their allies and to follow their principle of helping the weak against the strong.

As Eschaton Circuit were not officially allied with Kelmendej, the Exiles considered the Eschaton Circuit and the French Empire to be the aggressors in this conflict, and therefore refused to surrender, ultimately bringing the war to a stalemate.

End of the War

After suffering heavy casualties in their navy and losing several population centres, Eschaton Circuit began to evacuate their space after a week of conflict and surrendered to the Exiles after two weeks, leaving Kelmendej and the French Empire to fend for themselves.

The French Empire and Exiles started negotiations on Jan 16 which brought about a ceasefire, territory swaps and a possibility for peace. They finally concluded a peace treaty on Jan 22 which resulted in the withdrawal of the French Empire from the conflict area.

The Exiles then claimed the entire region of space as their own.
