A tall ship and a star to steer her by - the Lovely Dulcinée, my first new-style ship, has at last set her sails to the solar winds. She was considerably more work than the old designs, but not as much as I was expecting. Took less than a week from having the idea to producing a working prototype. Fun to do and well worth it.

The wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking - her maiden voyage begins:

A merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover - the lamps are lit and the talk is cheery on the quarterdeck:

A grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking - the townspeople have an early Christmas surprise over Foigny Harbour:

A wild call and a clear call that may not be denied. Second star to the right, Starman Wendy, and straight on 'til morning!

Some interior shots and details:

The quarterdeck, with a map table and engine telegraph. You can just see the swivel gun mounted on the port side - it is now working properly as a turret, though hard for a human to aim, since the gunner's view is from the ship's pivot point, not the place I think I specified:

The 110-lber, based on HMS Warrior's armament (RBL 7-inch Armstrong gun):

Tiny sickbay:

Turbolift shack, flight deck and giant a red lever to open the atmospheric shield. The lights go green when the way is clear:

I need to give her some lanterns as placed objects, since the glow of the integrated ones doesn't seem to illuminate anything.

Rocket engines (couldn't get a well-lit shot in-game):

Lovely Dulcinée isn't a warship, but she does have a powerful weapon in her bugged and crazy fighter catapult, which is capable of lagging an entire system to death every time she tries to launch.

Update: placeable lighting drastically improves the look of new designs. I recommend making the effort!

It was inevitable, really.
