According to the previous post about this, its based on the world. So already existing cities will be the old style until its phased out.

Speaking of, is there any way of turning an old world into a new world?

So, even MORE tedious micromanagement?

Initial tedious micromanagement in exchange for significantly less in the future.

I actually hadn't started one of them yet except for filling a ship with the mats and parking it next to where I was going to place the flag.

Nothing has changed with current/aging/old style of building cities. The new buildings are not functional enough yet to replace them.

Old style cities will continue to function for a long time. It is not quick or easy to run out and replace them.

As the new buildings get more functional, you will prefer to build cities with them instead of the old way. I expect them to be much more effective defenders.

Sweet thank you, My old empire went away while I was gone. I'm rebuilding.

I'll have to start a test city after these are done ..I'm looking forward to trying out the new stuff.

Getting quite a bit of CG extents issues on something simple that doesn't seem like it should be wrong

What about spacecraft orders? How will "land at city" and "land at airport" work?

Anr once suggested that airports should be nameable, so we can choose which airport to land at. This would make a lot of sense in the new system.
See: (Idea thread) Airports relaunched

And it has been suggested many times that airport should be able to ferry avatars between airports. AI piloted helicopter or space transport fly you to your destination.
See: (Idea thread) Airport Flight Paths
AnrDaemon is the solution to the [s]Fermi Paradox[/s] Hazeron suggestion flood problem, the great suggestion filter.

So far, I see a gameplay stretching thin. Very thin.
There's so many issues that did not get a thought through, that I'm terrified by this update.
